Max Lerman

Max has been playing guitar professionally for over 30+ years as a musician in a variety of different ensembles and groups, as well as working currently as a private practice music therapist. Max started playing the guitar at the age of 7 years old in learning the instrument by ear. Immediately falling in love with the guitar, Max became consumed in learning the instrument at a young age in starting up with guitar lessons and continued to play throughout high school after auditioning for jazz band. Max learned how to sight read in high school in having been in jazz band for 4 years and continuing on into college at the University of Iowa where Max earned his Bachelors in Music in Jazz Studies, Guitar Performance, and Bachelors Equivalency in Music Therapy.

Max is proficient at several instruments outside of playing the guitar, including the ukulele, banjo, and piano. Prior to moving to Michigan back in 2018, Max was in a jazz/funk/R&B band known as Groove Witness. Max made contributory efforts to original songs on both albums “Wandering Soul” and “Hooks.” Both albums can be found on Apple Music, Spotify, and streaming music platforms. Max is enjoying life here in Michigan, in which he currently resides in Spring Lake and is a father to his daughter Penelope who is 6 years old.
